A key goal of this project is to develop new insights, approaches and technologies that support the needs of end-users, such as industry, farmers and local communities in Oman. The Engineering & Materials Research Centre at MMU has modern, state-of-the-art laboratory space for engineering research and has cutting-edge computer software and hardware, available for this project. It is a leading institute in the UK, developing biosensors, wireless sensor
networks, and smart technologies through collaborative research.

Dr Velusamy and Prof Banks will add value through distributing her extensive expertise in Oman in the field of Smart Sensor Systems and next generation screen-printed electrodes (sensors) respectively. This will result in a highly trained team in Oman through the knowledge of how to design and develop next generation cost-effective remote sensors platform for real-time monitoring of range of contaminants associated with water quality and a range of analytical problems.
